The ASMP Foundation

The mission of the ASMP Foundation is to support the educational purposes and activities of ASMP.

Chapter and Specialty Group grant program

The ASMP Foundation supports the educational goals of ASMP by awarding grants on an ongoing basis to ASMP Chapters and Specialty Groups. These funds may be used to support specific educational programming that benefits, and is available to, the entire photographic community. Applications must be submitted at least 90 days prior to the program date for which the grant is requested. Applicants will be notified in a timely manner if their application has been accepted or rejected. All grant decisions are made on a nondiscriminatory basis.

Selection criteria: The Foundation funds educational programs which focus on improving the skills or enhancing the knowledge of the photographic community and are open to ASMP members and non-members alike.

Restrictions on use of funds: Grant money must be used entirely within the educational program and cannot be applied to the regular operating expenses of ASMP. “Operating” includes such costs as equipment purchases, social events, member recruitment and Society governance.

Eligibility: ASMP Chapters and Specialty Groups are eligible to receive ASMP Foundation Program Grants. Applications must be submitted by ASMP Chapter Directors or Specialty Group Chairpersons. Chapters must be in full compliance and up to date with financial reporting requirements and must include the Chapter's complete balance sheet, listing all account balances, as part of the application.

Size of grant: Maximum amount of any single award is $3,000. No one chapter or specialty group can receive more than one grant per calendar year.

Applying for a grant: We recommend that you use the online application form. (Member login is required. If you are not logged in, this link will be convenient.)

Post-grant reports: If awarded an ASMP Foundation Program Grant, the chapter or specialty group will be required to:

  • submit a report including summary, attendance and feedback on the event.
  • submit photographs of the event for publication on the Foundation website.
