Annual Assistant Meeting

So, you get your first gig as a photo assistant and meet all these people: Photographers, Art Directors, Stylists, Stylist Assistants, Producers, Digital Techs, Models, Hair and Make-up, Caterers, Clients, and you are thinking, “Where do I fit in?” That’s what this meeting is all about.

Whether you are a brand new, green assistant, or you’ve been around since the dawn of time, there is always something new to learn. We will have a diverse panel of Photo Assistants talking about what they do and how they do it.

We will have four working assistants who will talk about everything from how to get the the job, to what you need to know to help your photographer get the shot. The meeting will be a Q&A panel format. Questions will also be taken from the audience both anonymously and openly at the end of the meeting.

There will be tons of door prizes from our sponsors West Photo, The Lab - Digital Production and Flashlight Photo Rental. But of course you have to be there to win it!

Surviving the Editorial Market

Things are changing on a daily basis for the photo market as a whole. This is especially true for the editorial market. This meeting will be an open-ended discussion featuring a panel of both photographers and editors who will address such topics as who is hiring and for what sorts of work; a greater reliance on staff shooters as opposed to freelancers; changing in usage needs – i.e. more web, less print; copyright issues and more.

Free for Members and MCAD students, Students: $5, Non-Members: $10
